Without a doubt this traditional and popular dish is an integral part of Austrian and German cuisine, so much so that it would be an utter shock not to find schnitzel at an Austrian eatery. Though customarily made of veal, Wiener schnitzel is also prepared using other meats such as pork, chicken, and turkey (though, by law, a menu item offering ‘Wiener Schnitzel’ must contain veal; if it contains pork, it will say ‘Wienerschnitzel vom Schwein’ as it does here). McDonald’s Chicken McNuggets

As a lifelong fan of Chicken McNuggets, it is essentially obligatory to try them here at an Austrian McDonald’s. Simply put, the nuggets are fantastic – exactly what you would expect the perfect chicken McNugget to be any McDonalds. The breading on the outside is crispy and the chicken breast meat on the inside is juicy and tender. Seasoned well, they are delicious as is. Of course, you also have a limited selection of sauces to choose from – the typical barbecue and sweet and sour sauces, or the more exotic curry, chili, or sour cream dips! Continue reading

McDonald’s Toni’s Argentino Grill

A thick patty of mouthwatering, 100% Austrian ground beef, topped with 3 slices of spicy salami, buttery pepper jack cheese, a couple slices of fresh tomatoes, crisp shredded iceberg lettuce, a handful of crunchy nacho strips, a squeeze of ketchup and a dollop of mayonnaise, all placed on top of a firm, wheat bun. Sounds like a gourmet burger, doesn’t it? Well, it’s one of five culinary creations offered at McDonald’s locations throughout Austria for a very limited time.
